Pony Playtime

So I am still working on my mina vacation entry. I had the whole thing wiped out once and then the stupid thing didn't save half the writing the second time. I am getting frustrated!! Lol!!

I went to the farm today to bathe my filthy horse and I got these fun photos of a couple of pponies playing around! Enjoy!

I will also sit down and share some pictures and my trip to Great Falls when I get a chance to sit down and write more.

The Mother's Day Filly

A pretty little Canadian filly was born on Mother's Day at VanRoyal Canadians and she got a taste of what it was like to be the center of attention.
This little girl will play an important role in the preservation of the breed we hope, as the Canadian Horse has been listed as critically endangered with less than 2000 horses left.

If you would like to keep up with Canadians, here is the page my friend just started for hers:

And here are some photos of that sweet little girl!

Pre-Vacation Warm Up....

SO - I am going to Great Falls for May long weekend. Hotel booked.... I am staying at the O'Haire Motor Inn so I can take in the legendary lounge - The Sip & Dip! The hotel is very close to the Russell museum- which is the reason I am going.

I have been TO it - just not IN it. It is closed on Mondays and that was when I passed through town.

Can't wait for my little get away!

Inspiration & Motivation: Where Are You?

When I wake up in the morning... I want to draw and paint.

By the time I get home from work, I am so drained and unmotivated that I cannot find the urge.

Art used to be one of my favorite things to do to unwind and distract myself. It is frustrating to not be able to have my ideas go from my brain to a piece of paper or canvas.

I have THOUSANDS of photos to work from. Anything you can imagine. I have unlimited access to horses and various other livestock. I take trips to places that have subjects that I WANT to turn into art. I flip through magazines that are dedicated to western art and culture trying to draw from them. I have wandered from gallery to gallery in Jackson Hole - like the Trailside Gallery. I have set eyes on some of the most amazing pieces of work that were going up for sale in Jackson Hole in their legendary auction. I have been to the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Whitney Western Art Museum  But I cannot make it happen.

My ultimate goal is to find myself as a successful - and well known western artist.

It is a tough goal to achieve. I am fortunate to network through social media with many successful artists. They work hard. They make it look easy, but we all know it isn't. One - who I have watched over the last 6 or so years - has gone from painting children's portraits and "dabbling" has come so far and has been making a name for herself as a western artist. However she has encountered some criticism and ridicule for her style. She is fabulous! There are two types of people in the art world: People who want to see you succeed and help you and support you and people who re jealous and want to see you fail. The same can be said for the equine world as well from what I have seen so far.
I am lucky to have supportive art friends.

Happy Anniversary

One year ago today... I met this guy.
What an amazing year it has been. his old guy has taught me SO much and I am lucky to have found a horse like him.
He has taught me about patience... when I first got him, he was nearly IMPOSSIBLE to catch.
He has been a solid partner who will sit patiently while I dress him up and grooms him and I can do just about anything to him. He is a wonderful first horse to have. He has built up my confidence really well after not having been on a horse in 9 years.
We have built up a great relationship and partnership over this last year. e have had many breakthroughs, yet still have things to work on.
